The blogging idea has been floating in my head for years. However, I lacked the motivation and courage to grab the idea and explore it in detail. Would I have time to habitually construct a post worth a few minutes of a reader’s valuable time? The word “maybe” was the answer. This uncertainty served as my justification to push the blogging project down on my to-do list. So what life event or inspirational conversation spun the answer from “maybe” to “yes”? None! The answer to the “time” question for both you (reading) and me (posting), oddly enough, remains the same – “maybe”. What did adjust is my willingness to accept the risk of the unknown for this project. As a business owner (Vamos Marketing), voice-over talent (db Talent), board of director for a local chamber (Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce), national board of director for a fraternity (Omega Delta Phi), committee member for an industry association (Promotional Products Association International), and landlord (real estate in Texas), I am exposed to a massive sum of risk on a daily basis. I guess I have enough on my plate that I was subconsciously preventing more to make its way on. Somehow, this new role of blogger sneaked in and here we are. Now that you have a taste of what is on my plate, you will have a better feel of the experiences that will formulate my content moving forward. My blog will touch on the overall concepts of business and life. In regards to my educational background, I am blessed to have a Bachelor of Business Administration (Business Honors Program) and Master in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. As a business owner, these degrees won’t directly translate into a higher salary, but they do influence the way I think and make decisions (indirectly impacting the bottom line of my business ventures). I will reveal the inner workings of my mind via these posts, so it should be interesting for you and me. The “you” at the moment may only be my brother (Jesus Antonio) and sister (Magda Gisela), lol. My two siblings, along with my parents, have always served as my morale boosters and safety net. More importantly, they have helped shape me into the man I am now. I was born and raised in the southernmost tip of Texas – Brownsville. I grew up speaking Spanish at home and learned the English language through the formal education system of the United States of America. Living in a border city for the first half of my life (Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, is right next door) allowed me to grasp an understanding of not only USA culture and traditions, but those of Mexico as well. The second half of my life has been spent in Austin and San Antonio studying and working. Where will I be in the future? Who knows, but now it’s time for this blogging adventure to commence.
